Overview
In this specific era, characterized by a strong presence of the digital world in almost all areas of work, digital literacy and coding basics have become key pillars for employability and active participation in the job market.
Therefore, this module aims to provide educators of adults with Down syndrome with the right tools and knowledge to effectively teach coding and digital skills, in order to increase their employment opportunities and improve their independence through the acquisition of skills that are fundamental to today’s job market, thus opening up new professional and social integration prospects for adults with Down syndrome.
Aim
- To equip adult educators with the skills needed to teach coding and digital literacy in an accessible, inclusive, and engaging way to adults with Down syndrome.
- To equip adult educators with essential knowledge about the numerous free visual programming tools that facilitate coding learning through intuitive, interactive and accessible interfaces.
- To equip adult educators with strategies of progress assessment and feedback communication for the education of adults with Down syndrome.
- To equip adult educators with effective strategies for linking acquired coding skills to concrete employment opportunities.
Expected Outcomes
- Educators will be able to design accessible coding lessons for adults with Down syndrome.
- Participants will become familiar with various coding tools, especially those with visual block interfaces.
- Educators will be able to assess students’ progress in learning coding and digital skills.
- Participants will be able to link coding skills to concrete job opportunities.
- Educators will develop strategies to create an inclusive learning environment for teaching digital technologies.
